ISO9001 quality system certification has the following characteristics:
1. The object of certification is the quality system of the supplier. The object of quality system certification is not a product or service of the enterprise, but the quality system itself. Of course, quality system certification will inevitably involve the products or services covered by the system. Some enterprises apply for the certification of the overall quality system including various products or services of the enterprise, and some applications only cover one or part of the products (or service) quality system certification. Although the scope of products involved is large or small, the object of certification is the quality system of the supplier.
2. Certification is based on quality assurance standards. For quality system certification, it is often the supplier's need to provide quality assurance to the outside world, so the certification is based on the relevant quality assurance model standards. In order to bring the quality system certification into line with international practice, it is better for the supplier to choose the ISO9001:2015 standard.
3. The certification body is a third-party quality system evaluation body. To make the supplier quality system certification fair and credible, the certification must be undertaken by a third-party organization that has no economic interest in the certified unit (supplier) and no administrative affiliation. In addition to having experienced and well-trained personnel, resources and procedures that meet the requirements, this institution must also win the support of the government and the trust of society with its excellent certification practices, and be authoritative and impartial.
4. Certification Approved logos are registered and issued certificates. For a quality system that applies for certification according to the prescribed procedures, when the evaluation result is judged to be qualified, the certification body will register and issue a certificate to the certification enterprise, which will be listed in the directory of quality system certification enterprises and released to the public. Certified enterprises may use the registration mark in promotional materials, trade fairs and other promotional activities, but the mark shall not be used directly on products or their packaging to avoid confusion with product certification. The registered mark is protected by law and shall not be used or forged.
5. Certification is the voluntary behavior of enterprises. Product quality certification can be divided into two categories: safety certification and quality certification, among which safety certification is often a mandatory certification. Quality system certification is mainly to improve the quality and reputation of the enterprise and expand the sales volume. Generally, the enterprise applies voluntarily and voluntarily, which is an independent behavior of the enterprise. However, enterprises that do not apply for certification are often subject to the pressure of distrust or trade barriers naturally formed by the market, forcing them to strive to enter the ranks of certified enterprises, but this is not the mandatory role of the certification system or government decrees.
